Current 10-2-2008 Update: We are looking for people who want leadership roles. Please contact Harry Lindner.27 if interested.
Past News: The election results are in. We had two issues on the USG ballot. Issue 3 was against sweatshop labor for Ohio State apparel. Issue 4 was against cola-cola's human, worker, and environmental abuses.
Here is commentary about the results: DSP (Issue 3) had 3591 for and 1138 against: that is 4729 total cast and 76% for the DSP!!! How is the administration going to say no to getting the DSP with 76% of the student leaders wanting no sweatshop apparel.
Anti-Coke(Issue 4) had 2252 for and 2754 against: that is 45% for our issue against coke and 5006 votes total cast in the issue. That says 45% of the student leaders want coke banned from our campus. And, 5006 votes cast is the greatest amount of votes cast for any race, including the president race. There were 153 more people, 3% of the max voting population, who voted on the coke issue than the president race! That means some people logged in just to vote on our issue! This is basically a win. It seems a good argument could be made that there needs to be a choice on campus for the 45% of student leaders who want Coke banned from our campus.
You can see the results here http://usg.osu.edu/elections_usg/vote_results.aspx

Students Against Coke Hosts: SINALTRAINAL Union Members
At 15th and High, Wednesday April 2nd, 6pm
Listen to people who have to face the horrors of being a union member at a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Colombia. (Rain Location: Haggerty Hall Room 180) Open to the public. Please attend because these are guests from Colombia!
This video is from the event. These were the coke kids! We wondered where they got the vitamin water since it costs so much and you cannot get it through a coke grant!

Students Against Coke Vs. Coca-Cola P.R. Reps from Atlanta
McPherson 1000 Thursday April 3rd, 8pm
This is a modern day “David vs. Goliath” story. Coca-Cola is refusing to have a professional vs. professional debate. They will only debate their professionals vs. the non-killercoke professionals!
And the post-debate report is...
One student, Philip Smoke, remarked, “Dude Harry, you were a bulldog tonight.”
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported us. Some highlights were when Coca-cola claimed to not do business in Sudan (even though they have been fined by our federal government for violations of the Sudan sanctions), and when they attacked BBC as a credible news source! Needless to say, we all had a good time and a lot of laughs.
Meetings Thursdays at 7:30pm in Hagerty Hall Room 0056
